Richa Chadda is an Indian actress who has repeatedly garnered accolades through her consistent portrayal of unconventional characters in what is often sighted as off-beat cinema. She made her bollywood debut in the comedy-drama film Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008). Inspite of favorable reviews in the debut film, her major breakthrough came only in 2012 with a two-part series crime film Gangs of Wasseypur. She was awarded the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for her talent in the first installment of the same film.
Her foray into main-stream cinema began with a supporting role in the 2013 hit film Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. Despite the relatively short screen time, she was nevertheless praised for the conspicuous presence she imposed. Furthering her prowess, she enjoyed critical acclaim and a standing ovation at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival for her depiction of a girl in ‘morality crisis’ in the film Masaan (2015). The film has been sighted as a new milestone in her career and through it she is said to have created a niche for herself in the Hindi film industry.
